Join us as we camp out in nature's home and sleep beneath the stars, experiencing RSPB Farnham Heath as never before! Suitable for families wanting a night beneath the stars. We are taking bookings for Saturday 25th July 2020.

Children taking part in BWSO can earn points towards an RSPB Wild Challenge. The RSPB Wild Challenge is free to enter and suitable for children who want to engage with nature and earn a bronze, silver or gold badge or certificate.

Bring along your tent, go out on a guided night walk, enjoy food cooked over our BBQs and wake up in a meadow on this Heathland Reserve. As the sun goes down, we'll have a twilight wander to look for and listen to the creatures that go bump in the night. We'll set the moth trap to unveil in the morning, then it's hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows over our camp fire before falling asleep under the stars.

Terms and conditions of this event

Booking fees must be paid in full by 20 July 2020 at latest.
RSPB Members get a 20% discount on price of tickets. Type the word Member in the Promotional discount box
A full refund will only be offered if the event is cancelled by the RSPB.
All children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.This is a wild camping event and may not be suitable for very young children or babies.
Tents only. No campervans or caravans.
Jacket potatoes, Marshmallows, croissants and cold and hot drinks provided. No other food, cutlery or crockery provided by the RSPB.
No campfires or camping stoves allowed other than the RSPB communal campfire.
No smoking.
In case of an accident or incident, please inform the designated RSPB event leader.
No pets other than registered assistance dogs.
Overnight camping permitted only for event participants. No camping at any other time.
We reserve the right to remove any person who we feel is a danger to themselves or others.
Equipment will be driven to the camping site. Visitors’ cars will remain in the car park, which will be securely locked overnight.
Musical instruments very welcome! No stereos/ radios/ ghetto blasters please.
Participants must not leave the designated camping area other than during accompanied event.
Please note there will be no storage available other than your own tents.
Due to the outdoor nature of this event, the ground is uneven and not suitable for buggies or wheelchairs.
ON SATURDAY PLEASE: arrive by 3.00pm to allow time for your equipment to be loaded onto our truck and driven to the campsite. We will be ready to leave for the site by 4.00pm. It is a 40 minute guided walk giving ample time to enjoy looking for wildlife on the way. Please wear shoes/boots suitable for uneven ground.
ON SUNDAY: Please be packed up and ready to leave the campsite at 9am

How to get here

Nearest railway station in Farnham, 3.5 miles (6 km) away. Local accessible taxis include Rushmoor taxis in Aldershot, tel: 01252 33 555
Nearest bus stop, Millbridge village outside Pierrepont House entrance, 1 mile (1.5 km) away. No 19 (Farnham to Hindhead). No pavement
By road, from Farnham, take B3001 south. Take the right-hand fork, signposted Tilford, immediately past level crossing. Just outside Tilford, follow signs to Rural Life Centre.

Car parking

Large car park, shared with Rural Life Centre. Six Blue Badge bays
Mostly grass surface. Part (including Blue badge bays) surfaced
No height restrictions
No lighting
Free Parking. Car park will be securely locked overnight.

What can I bring into the event?

Your own tent, pegs, mallet, and ground sheet.
Sleeping bag, camping mat, pillows and a blanket.
Food and drink, including evening meal, breakfast and any snacks
Spare clothes and outdoor shoes
A torch and spare batteries.
Camera/ binoculars/ bat detectors
Insect repellent. Sun protection.
Your RSPB membership card if you have one
Your own BBQ cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery
We will transport your equipment to the camping site. Please only pack essentials.

What will the RSPB provide?

A communal fire, BBQs and charcoal
Hot and cold drinks, Jacket potatoes & Marshmallows for the evening and croissant for breakfast
Toilet facilities and drinking water (but please note there are no showers, baths or electricity)
A fantastic adventure!

What can I look forward to doing on this event?

Looking for Bats, moths, bugs, den building, nightime walk looking for anything that might go "bump in the night"

What's the refund policy? What happens in Bad Weather?

If the cancellation is our fault, or if there are extenuating circumstances for the customer we will offer refunds
If very heavy rain is expected we will give as much notice of cancellation as is reasonably possible even up to the morning of the event and we will offer refunds to customers.
