SEN Communication Consultations
Overview
Some children/young people do not need active, one-to-one work with a speech and language therapist, but they do need others to use communication strategies to allow them to understand and to express themselves. These virtual sessions give families and SEN professionals ongoing access to support to refresh their knowledge and to discuss any issues around supporting children/young people with ongoing communication needs.
Book a 1:1 online session here with a qualified speech and language therapist if:
- Your child has been discharged from speech and language therapy but you have more questions or need support with the strategies you are using to support them, or
- You work with a child or young person who needs you to use communication strategies, or
- You support a child who is using symbols and/or a communication app
- You want to talk through any of the communication recommendations for a child or young person, or
- You are considering referring a child/young person to speech and language therapy services. You will need parental consent to proceed with a referral (if this is needed).
The session lasts up to 30 minutes per child/young person. You can book as many slots as you need. You will be invited to discuss the issues your child/young person is facing, to discuss existing recommendations and to explore any other potential communication support. At the end of the session you should have new ideas to work with, and we can arrange for referral for more specialist support if your child needs more than we can offer within this forum.
