Who should attend?
The aim of course is to provide individuals responsible for undertaking accident investigations with an understanding of how to conduct an accident investigation; how this should be recorded and to influence the development of their organisation's safety management systems and the effective control of risk.
The course will cover:
- Techniques for investigation
- Identifying direct, underlying and root causes of accidents/incidents/near misses
- Managing outcomes
- Three real life case studies are used (anonymised), including a wheelchair related injury, a hoist fatality, a serious dog bite of a domiciliary care worker.

Each learner will identify their responsibilities, accountabilities and legal liabilities within your organisation as they apply to accident investigation.
Recognise the function and practicalities of your organisation's accident investigation systems as well as demonstrate how to identify the underlying, direct and root causes of an accident.
Throughout the course, learners will have sessions of questions & answers, alongside activities and exercises.
