Learn the basics of the art – and the business – of writing scripts from our panel of world-class experts, including writers Joanna Hogg (Archipelago), Christopher Hampton (Atonement) and Hanif Kureishi (My Beautiful Laundrette), producer Stephen Woolley (The End of the Affair) and leading agent Matthew Bates (whose clients include Andrea Arnold).

Matthew Bates is a leading UK agent at Sayle Screen, where he represents writers and directors for film, TV and theatre. His clients include Andrea Arnold (Fish Tank), Carol Morley (Dreams of a Life), Clio Barnard (The Selfish Giant) and Sally El Hosaini (My Brother the Devil).
Hanif Kureishi is a celebrated British novelist and screenwriter. His novels include The Buddha of Suburbia, The Black Album and Intimacy. His screenplays include My Beautiful Laundrette, Sammy and Rosie Get Laid (both directed by Stephen Frears), The Mother, Venus and Le Week-End (all three directed by Roger Michell).
Christopher Hampton is a British playwright and screenwriter. His screenplays include Atonement (director, Joe Wright), A Dangerous Method (director, David Cronenberg) and Dangerous Liaisons (director, Stephen Frears). His plays include Savages, The Philanthropist, Treats and The Talking Cure.
Joanna Hogg is an acclaimed writer and director. Her celebrated three feature films are 'Unrelated' and 'Archipelago' (both starring Tom Hiddleston) and the upcoming 'Exhibition', which has its British premiere at the London Film Festival in October 2013.
Stephen Woolley has been a leading British film producer since the early 1980s. He has long produced the films of the director Neil Jordan, including Byzantium, The End of the Affair, The Crying Game, Interview with the Vampire and Mona Lisa. His many other films as producer include Great Expectations, Made in Dagenham and Backbeat.
