Event Details

You are invited to join us for the launch of the Arthritis Research UK Centre of Adolescent Rheumatology Research at UCL, UCLH and GOSH. We will hear from key senior staff as well as funders and young people. The afternoon will offer opportunities to network and discuss adolescent rheumatology initiatives and developments.

This very exciting initiative has arisen through a partnership between Arthritis Research UK, UCL (Division of Medicine and Institute of Child Health, ICH), Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), GOSH Children’s Charity and University College London Hospitals (UCLH). This is the first Centre of its kind in the UK and will interface between the large paediatric and adult rheumatology research departments within ICH and Division of Medicine respectively. The Adolescent Rheumatology Unit at UCLH is one of the largest such units in the UK.

Our mission in this Centre will be to promote the health and well-being of adolescents with arthritis and other rheumatic diseases through achieving the following goals:

1. Undertake and promote high quality research in adolescents with

arthritis and autoimmune rheumatic disease.

2. Ensure seamless transition and integration across paediatric, adolescent and adult

research and healthcare environments.

3. Ensure that adolescents have uninterrupted access to clinical research

studies and drug trials as they move from paediatric to adolescent healthcare

settings.

4. Enable a UK-wide National Network of researchers and clinicians to engage in new

collaborative research projects in Adolescent Rheumatology.

5. Nurture the development of, and provide training for, a future generation of clinicians

and researchers in Adolescent Rheumatology
