Physical interaction: artists and technologies
Artists present work in physical form, even when working with digital technologies. The interesting space between virtual and real life is explored through different art forms, as technology develops so it is disrupted, repurposed and represented in new artworks. Experimentation and research hubs offer the opportunity to push these boundaries and create new applications. Layers of digital activity surround contemporary exhibitions, festivals and events, audience interaction and co-production are encouraged. Sharing case studies of digital art work giving an overview of current practice and the process of working in new media. Arts Council England has introduced new policies and strategic funding programmes to support Creative Media work, and will continue to invest in artists’ digital practice.
Given the wide and diverse range of academics, businesses, students and Heritage organisations working collaboratively on the DHD project, we will be hosting free monthly “cake” (Collaboration and Knowledge Exchange) mornings to showcase current developments, discuss funding opportunities and tackle current challenges. Plus - there will be cake!
