Community Development for Older People has always been one of the core elements of the Bristol Ageing Better Bid.
In the last six months we have been working with partners and stakeholders across the city to review our original business case and ensure that what we commission is strategic and supports the existing resources and infrastructures around Community Development in Bristol.
On 29th September we will be launching the BAB Blueprint for our Community Development for Older people Project. The Blueprint will set out our strategy for developing best practice Community Development activity that takes an asset based approach in engaging older people with the communities around them.
The event will also see the launch of Invitations to Tender for the opportunities set out within the Blueprint, and give partners an opportunity to find out more.
BAB is also a partner in the event “Community Work in Bristol – Looking to the Future” that takes place in City Hall prior to the Blueprint Launch. This event is being organised by people who are doing community work in Bristol. We are keen to meet with others and to create a space for dialogue between equals. What, if anything, happens next will be up to the people who join in.
This event has been organised by Barton Hill Settlement, VOSCUR, Knightstone Housing Association, Bristol Ageing Better and Bristol City Council. Our only goal is to create a shared space for people to come together.
