Beauty in the Making: The Maker
Monday, April 23, 2012 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM (BST)
'Beauty in the Making: The Maker' is the first talk in the series, and features two exciting creative practitioners, typography legend Alan Kitching, and up and coming film director, Kim Gehrig.
Founder of The Typography Workshop, Kitching is one of the world’s foremost practitioners of letterpress typographic design and printmaking. He continues to exhibit across the globe, and will discuss his illustrious career and working process.
Kim Gehrig will explore the notion of gut reactions in relation to her award-winning work. Recent successes include her highly acclaimed full length documentary 'Beat 2012'. It followed Mark Ronson producing a song for London 2012 featuring the sounds of Olympic hopefuls as the percussion. She has also directed some high-profile music videos including Wiley’s ‘Cash in my pocket‘ and the no.1 campaign ad for Ikea ‘You’ll always find me in the kitchen at parties’.
