Description

Demystify the process and declutter your mind to make writing fiction a source of inspiration

Writing a novel can seem like a complicated and lonely process, even for an experienced writer. Sometimes the deeper you get into it, the more work it seems to be. Thankfully, it's all a lot easier when you know how. This accessible one-day course, taught by Orange Prize-nominated author Jill Dawson, features a wealth of practical tips to make the task of writing as fulfilling and rewarding as it should be. Best of all, it gives novice writers the opportunity to get individual feedback on where to go next, from an acclaimed author who understands not just what makes great writing, but the difficulties first-time novelists face – and how to beat them.

With 25 years experience as a novelist, poet, editor and creative writing tutor, Jill can help you with any and all of the creative and practical basics. It's an invaluable shot of skills and confidence, whether you want to learn how to define and explore key themes, plan your research, write a synopsis or create a workable schedule that will keep you productive without making writing feel like a chore.
