Description

When you’re introducing any change, at the most fundamental level, you’re trying to change people’s behaviours. Whether it’s ensuring patients turn up on time to their appointments or adhere to medical advice, encouraging GPs to prescribe fewer antibiotics, or making sure hospital staff wash their hands, these are all behaviours that need to change.

This session will introduce behavioural science and show where it has already been used across all areas of health to improve outcomes. It will introduce some easy-to-use, evidence-based frameworks to understand how we can understand and change people’s behaviour. And through interactive group sessions, we will apply these to the problems you are facing, to help design solutions that are more likely to have the impact you want.

By the end of the session you will have learned two practical frameworks to help you to think about the behavioural barriers you face in your work, and how to use behavioural insights to help address these barriers. You will have applied this to the problems you face to develop behaviourally-informed solutions.

You should attend this course if you:
• Would like to understand what drives people’s behaviour.
• Work on initiatives that involve changing or influencing people’s behaviour.
• Want to know what behavioural insights is and how it’s made an impact in public policy and health care.

You will also have the opportunity to:
• Learn about behavioural science.
• Learn practical frameworks to apply behavioural science.
• Participate in group sessions to apply the frameworks to your areas of work.
