Event Details

Film Forever Road Shows
Throughout November we are hosting a series of UK-wide road shows to introduce Film Forever: Supporting UK Film and to discuss our work in greater detail. You are invited to meet the BFI teams at a series of workshops and 1:1 surgeries – the workshops are open to all and can be booked via the ticket box above. The sessions will cover the Film Fund, Education, Audiences, Archives, MEDIA Desk UK and Certification. Everyone is welcome.

Film Fund: Ben Roberts, Director of Lottery Film Fund

Supporting the future success of British film

The BFI’s Future Plan sets out a raft of exciting initiatives to support films and filmmakers across the UK. Ben Roberts, Director of the Lottery Film Fund, and Senior Executives from his team will discuss the BFI’s production and development plans, what these mean and how they will work.

Audiences and Education: Tim Cagney, Deputy Chief Executive, and Eddie Berg, Head of Partnerships

Boosting audience choice across the UK

The BFI Audience Fund contains a range of initiatives to boost audience choice across the UK - including the UK Audience Network, the Film Festivals Fund and the Programming Development Fund. In this workshop we will discuss our ambitions for the Audience Fund and give further information on the different elements.

Expanding education and learning opportunities

Film Forever sets out a new focus and ambition for film education across the UK. The 5-19 New Offer intends to achieve a significant step change in provision with one easy and accessible offer, while the BFI’s new Film Academy network will identify and develop young talent. In this workshop we will provide an update on our current schemes and open a discussion on our ambitions for the BFI particularly around HE, lifelong learning, advocacy and research across the UK.

Archive: Heather Stewart, Creative Director

Unlocking film heritage for everyone to enjoy

The BFI’s third strategic priority is focussed on making the UK’s screen heritage available to everyone and, for the first time ever, involving the public in selecting what it digitised. We are seeking new ways to open up access to the nation’s collections, increasing access through digitisation and interpretation, and seeking appropriate partnerships with copyright owners. Heather Stewart, Creative Director, will discuss our plans for access to screen heritage.

MEDIA Desk UK, Agnieszka Moody, Director Media Desk UK

(Please note: Only available in Birmingham, Bristol, Derry and Salford)

MEDIA Desk UK is a promotion and information office for the EU’s MEDIA Programme which offers a wide variety of funding for film and television, from training through project development and distribution to markets, events and festivals. Agnieszka Moody, Director of MEDIA Desk UK, will present the various funding strands and how to access them, as well as the wider support offered by the Programme.

1:1 Surgery

Certification - How to qualify as a British film: Anna Mansi, Certification Manager

(Please note: Only available in Glasgow, Gateshead, Salford and Cardiff)

The Certification Unit is the first point of contact for producers wanting to qualify their film as British and access the UK’s film tax credits. The unit offers advice on qualification under the Cultural Test, the UK’s nine bi-lateral Co-production Agreements and the European Convention on Cinematographic Co-production. Anna Mansi, Certification Manager, will be available for one-to-one sessions to talk through the application process and advise on individual projects.
