BookMachine is coming to Oxford! If you work in publishing and live in Oxford, we're pleased to say that Sophie Goldsworthy at Oxford University Press will be hosting the third BookMachine Oxford shindig.
There were over 100 at our last event at the Ashmolean rooftop restaurant. The aim is to beat this! So please help us spread the word and make this the biggest gathering of publishing professionals in Oxford, ever. The venue this time is Freud Café-Bar on Walton Street.
We'll be kicking off at 6.00pm, so there'll be plenty of time to mingle - and meet fellow publishing folks. Just look out for the BookMachine signs and friendly faces and you'll soon find out why 'BookMachine is the most fun you can have in publishing with your clothes on' (according to Lisa Goll, of the London Writers' Cafe).
Who goes to BookMachine parties?
Well, a combination of people really. First of all you've got publishing professionals - designers, editors, publishers, marketeers, sales professionals. Then there's book lovers and writers. And not to forget, a few app developers, games designers and publishing students.
What do you actually do?
We've organised talks, gimmicks and contests in the past, but we've found that the best ingredients for a good party are simply a great venue, chatty people and some drinks. Don't worry if you don't know anyone - it's always a friendly crowd!
You'll be able to see the list of attendees below, as folks sign up - be sure to let us know if there's anyone particular you'd like to meet; and we'll happily 'do the intros'.
We'd also like to thank HL Studios for sponsoring the event. They offer services for publishers such as print, digital publishing, graphic design, illustration and animation.
Can't wait to see you then!
*Meanwhile, why not sign up for an early invite to bookmachine.me, coming soon for the people who make publishing happen.
