Bowker’s 2013 Books & Consumers Conference will take place on the morning of Wednesday, 20th March, at the usual Central London location, One Birdcage Walk, SW1.
We will be reporting on a year in which the book trade has seen unprecedented change. Ebook adoption has been particularly noticeable in fiction genres, but with tablets gaining market share, can non-fiction and children's books be far behind? Come along and learn more about how the market performed in 2012, what consumers are doing - and how their purchasing of both ebooks and books might change in 2013.
Since January 2012 Books & Consumers has been collecting book purchasing data from 3,000 book buyers per month. Whilst continuing to track key trends and provide essential business information for publishers, book retailers and trade associations, we are now also able to report on book consumers' online and offline leisure activities, media readership, ownership of devices and library use. We will also examine in much greater depth how consumers discover and chose the books they buy, both online and offline.
In addition, we will be hearing the latest on the children's and YA markets from publishing expert Stephanie Barton as well as learning about recent developments in the US book and ebook market.
