Join the Irene Taylor Trust’s Artistic Director and Founder, Sara Lee, for insights into her recent visits to arts in criminal justice work in the USA and Norway as a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellow, the Irene Taylor Trust's UK Music in Prisons programme (Arts and Health Award winner 2013) and Sounding Out community traineeship which uses music as a basis to support offenders’ transitions into the community.

Fellow of the Guildhall School of Music, Sara Lee, will share findings from independent evaluations about how writing and performing music can change individuals; increase transferable skills; improve wellbeing and relationships; and, increase motivation and aspiration. Previous beneficiaries will talk about their experiences and perform music created on the Irene Taylor Trust's programmes.

This short, informal and interactive event will provide a snapshot of some of the key opportunities and challenges for using the arts in criminal justice settings, and raise awareness of the role that music can play in inspiring positive change in individuals in and on the fringes of the Criminal Justice System. This event is part of the Irene Taylor Trust’s 21st Year Celebrations.

A complimentary breakfast buffet, tea and coffee will be kindly provided by PwC at the Covent Garden room in Brigade, PwC's social enterprise restaurant training those at risk of homelessness. Please arrive at 8.15am to sign in and get breakfast, the event content will begin at 8.30am.
