Another fantastically organised and enjoyable event. The combination of inspirational speakers, good structure of the evening and excellent chosen location make Rob's events very special and recommendable.
Many thanks to all who organised and presented at the Rugby Business Network event last week. The event was really interesting and I now have a much greater understanding of the work of both the Rugby for Heroes charity and the RBN itself. An excellently run event - thank you! :)
If you haven't attended a Rugby Business Network event elsewhere in the UK (or world for that matter) then here's what you can expect:
- 2 Hours of informal networking with Business Owners and Senior Business People from across the region who share a passion for Rugby and are there to network and have some fun
- Two or three 10 minute Question & Answer sessions with great keynote speakers
If you have been invited you may pass the invitation on to your own guests, provided they meet the criteria for the RBN, which as you know is "business people with a passion for rugby" (Read more).
More detail on each of our speakers:
James Grindal - An experienced operator, Grindal has made over 250 first team appearances for Leicester Tigers, Newcastle Falcons and now Bristol in a 15 year career at the top level. An excellent communicator, Grindal was voted Bristol Club Captain by his teammates for the 2013/14 campaign.
James will be able to give some real insights into his final season as well as his tranisition from athletic to business career.
As you may be aware Bristol were unlucky not to get promoted to the Premeirship at the end of the season, and Chris Booy the Chairman reviewed the season by saying: "We didn’t achieve what we set out to at the beginning of the season: promotion to the Aviva Premiership. Everyone at the Club is sorry for that.
We won’t shy away from that fact. As a Club, we are extremely ambitious and it was disappointing that, after a year of hard work, we fell just short in the two-legged final.
But one under-par performance at a rainy Kassam Stadium should not detract from what has been a memorable campaign." - Read More

Obviously as of today things are very hectic at Bristol Rugby!! We are delighted to have James confirm that he's joining us as Keynote speaker to bring his perspective both on the season and his transition into a post athletic career in Business. However, we hope to be joined by someone senior from Bristol Rugby to share their views on Business & Rugby, as Stephen Vaughan Gloucester CEO recently did at Mercedes-Benz Bristol. Watch this space.
The Rugby Business Network is for business people with a passion for rugby and is primarily a networking event where attendees on the night help each other in life and in business. The members have a go-giver approach rather than a go-getter attitude. The RBN has over 19,000 members and has events in 45 cities around the world.
The events are free and the RBN is not for profit and this is purely down to the efforts of our volunteer organising committees, our hosts and of course our sponsors' funding. We are sponsored by HSBC and Marriott who pay for staff to help the organisers around the world.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
There is some street parking but several public car parks within only a short walking distance
Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
If you cannot make it then please either notify us so we can release your ticket to someone on the waiting list (there are only 100 tickets available), or if you are sending someone in your place, let us know so we can amend the pre-printed name badges prepared for the event that help networking.
Can I update my registration information?
Yes login and update it any time up until 24 hours before the event.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No, but if you want to as confirmation please do. We'll have name badges ready for you on the evening.

Rob Thomas - MD @ WSI-eMarketing
Rob is passionate about Rugby & Business and runs a Digital Marketing agency in Gloucestershire.
Rob is also MD of Mix Conferences and a Certified Social Selling Coach.
Nadine Thomas - Director @ WSI-eMarketing
Nadine is also passionate about rugby and is heavily involved with Dursley Rugby Club, coaching and refereeing at grass roots mini and youth level.
Kim Chang - Senior Business Development Manager at University of the West of England
Extensive sport management, public, private and third sector business development and partnership building experience in Australia and the UK.
Comprehensive experience in multi-sport international events having held managerial positions at the 2000 Olympic Games, 2000 Paralympic Games, 2001 Goodwill Games.
Specialist knowledge in community and high performance sport having worked for the Australian Rugby, New South Wales and Queensland Rugby Unions, 2003 Rugby World Cup and the 2001 British & Irish Lions Tour.
