Event Details

Employee engagement is a workplace approach designed to ensure that employees are committed to their organisation’s values and goals, motivated to contribute to organisational success and are able at the same time to promote their own sense of wellbeing.

The Event

Jo Dodds works with Engage for Success, the national movement spreading the word about employee engagement and shining a light on good practice. Amongst other responsibilities, she manages and co-hosts the weekly live podcast. In this session she will be sharing some of the key points from case studies that have been shared by guests on the podcast.

A joint Christ Church Business School and CIPD event for CCCU students and local HR practitioners interested in developing their knowledge of employee engagement through a case study approach – what are employers actually doing in this area to improve levels of engagement with their employees.

The Speaker

Jo Dodds

After eighteen years in the corporate world͛ in senior level Retail HR with companies such as B&Q, Staples and First Choice, Jo Dodds started her own business in August 2005 publishing eight local community magazines in her area. She extended her offering by helping the small businesses to market online including specialising in social media marketing since 2009.

Jo's focus now is back to her roots in HR, working with organisations and HR Professionals to ensure they are able to take full advantage of the new ͚social world͛. Helping them to understand and benefit from the opportunities now available to develop better communication, collaboration, customer service and employee engagement within their teams and with the wider business world. She also continues to train and consult on social media marketing as an Associate Consultant and works with the Engage for Success movement, leading on digital and social media in the core team.

Please note that there will be a short award presentation at the beginning of the evening to some of the business students.

Professional photography and video production will be taking place at the event, and these images may be used on future promotional materials for CIPD. Please note that by attending the event, you are giving your consent for your image to be used on any CIPD promotional materials.

CIPD Kent Branch

We are the Kent branch of CIPD - the professional body for HR and people development. The not-for-profit organisation champions better work and working lives and has been setting the benchmark for excellence in people and organisation development for more than 100 years.

We have a wide range of organisations and CIPD membership and we respond to this with a full selection of CPD and networking opportunities.

Due to the geographical spread of the county we have 3 area groups – Mid Kent, West Kent and East Kent. Between them they regularly hold sessions with guest speakers on subjects requested by the members. Most events are supported by local companies who host the events and provide an opportunity to meet other HR practitioners.

We also appreciate the specialisms within HR and have Special Interest Groups that meet regularly and occasionally have speakers. These groups include Health and Social Care and Senior Practitioners. Similarly we have smaller bespoke groups, Self Managed Learning Groups that operate throughout the county. These include the Coaching Groups in East Kent and West Kent. We  encourage the creation of new groups so if there is not an area covered, why not set one up?

Join our LinkedIn group, follow us on Twitter, like our Facebook page, or sign up to our emails for the latest news and events information.

Come along to an event and meet our friendly and welcoming committee members and the wonderful HR community of Kent!
