This course has been funded by The Sir Stanley Matthews Coaching Foundation. Please note that by agreeing to attend this course you must agree to become a 'Sir Stanley Matthews' ambassador which involves spreading the word of the excellent work that the foundation does and being a good coaching role model within your club. You will also need to provide 2 Open Days at your club to encourage more youngsters to play cricket at your club.

Event Details

This course is for individuals, over the age of 18 and is designed to help develop your confidence and equip you with the knowledge, understanding and applied skills to lead coaching sessions for children and create safe, fun,play-centred coaching environments usually in your own club coaching environment.

Individuals should book themselves onto the course, as the information required is important. 

Please note that on completion of this course you will receive a rebate of £150, which is funded by the Sir Stanley Matthews Coaching Foundation.

The course will run as follows:-

Sun 15th Jan 2017, 10am - 5.00pm 

Sun  22/01/17 10am-5pm

Sun  29/01/17 10am-5pm

Sun  05/02/17 10am-5pm

Assessment Day 19/02/17 10am-5pm

All dates must be attended to gain certification.

All applicants will need to have a current DBS (new name for CRB) check and as part of the course will have to complete the online Safeguarding Young Cricketers course.You will also need a current 1st Aid Certificate. The First Aid course will take place during the session on the 15th Jan, during the afternoon session. If you hold a current certificate, please bring this with you on the course start date and you may be allowed to finish earlier on the first day.

The course is for coaches who are going to predominantly coach children from 6 to 13 years.

This course provides the core capabilities required for coaching but focuses on enabling the coach to provide expertise, support and passion for children's cricket.

Staffordshire Cricket is one of 39 County Cricket Boards in England and Wales whose role is to Lead, Inspire, Influence and Support the Growth, Quality and Accessibility of Cricket in Staffordshire. We are a registered company limited by guarantee and our membership consists of representatives from all areas of the game and its wider partners. We are the governing body for cricket in Staffordshire and our aim in to make cricket the sport of choice.
