Lewisham Council is offering residents a rare opportunity to work together to build their own homes in Ladywell.
Lewisham Council has a history of supporting group self-build, with innovative projects in the 1970s and 80s that have been replicated across the country. The Council is once again committed to a community-led self-build scheme that addresses housing needs and challenges, provides skills and training opportunities, meets high sustainability standards and is financially viable. We have identified a site off Church Grove for this project.
At this stage we do not have a preference for the form this project should take and we are considering a number of different models and approaches.
We are holding a DISCUSSION DAY on Saturday 5 October. This event will provide inspiration and information on various options and approaches. There will be an opportunity to discuss these options, and for interested residents to let us know their preferences. We will also outline the next stages of the process
The Council is working with Our London who will facilitate the discussion and provide guidance and advice to prospective self-builders.
Please feel free to register for a place, even if you cannot attend on this day. There will be a chance to see a record of the day and provide feedback after the event.
