As part of its ‘Creative Space for Civic Thinking’ theme the Building Change Trust is organising a series of four workshops across Northern Ireland, in order to generate and gather innovative ideas for civic engagement tools and approaches i.e. the involvement of citizens in decision-making processes that impact upon their lives. One of the workshops will be taking place in Belfast on Friday 20th June.
The workshop is free and open to anyone, lunch will be provided.
When: Friday 20th June 12:00 - 15:00
Where: Clifton House, North Queen Street, Belfast BT15 1EQ
Following the workshops, the Trust will shortlist the best ideas, write them up with input from the proposer(s) and publish them online. Consideration will also be given to whether or how the Trust could support the local voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector to put these ideas into action.
In parallel to this series of workshops the Trust is also conducting research to identify examples of international best practice in relation to civic engagement and will be sharing the preliminary findings of this research with workshop participants.
When & Where
Building Change Trust
The Building Change Trust was established in 2008 by the Big Lottery Fund with a National Lottery grant of £10million as an investment for community capacity building and promotion of the voluntary and community sector in Northern Ireland.
The Trust supports the community and voluntary sector in Northern Ireland through the development, delivery of, and learning from a range or programmes including commissioned work, awards programmes and other interventions.
Between now and 2018, our resources will be used to support the community and voluntary sector to achieve more and better collaboration, increased sustainability and to be a learning sector which identifies, shares and acts on lessons of others’ actions. This work will be carried out across 6 overarching thematic areas: Collaboration, Social Finance, Social Innovation, Inspiring Impact, Leadership and Creative Space for Civic Thinking.
