Event Details

Would you like to help children learn how to code? Code Club is a nationwide network of after-school coding clubs for children. All our clubs are led by volunteers, teachers or library staff, and this training is designed to give volunteers and hosts all the information they need before they start running a Code Club.

The training and information session will cover:

  • What is Code Club?

  • Volunteering with Code Club

  • Working effectively with schools, libraries and other venues

  • Safeguarding

  • An introduction to Scratch & the Code Club projects

Who is the session for?

  • Anyone who is considering running a Code Club and would like some more information before they sign up

  • Anyone who has signed up as a volunteer but has not yet started running a Code Club

Volunteering for Code Club will be the best thing you do this year. Guaranteed!

We look forward to meeting you there!

If you can't make this session there's another in Whitby next month. Click here for details.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

The library is located just off the main pedestrian precinct on Vernon Road, next door to the Iceland supermarket. There are two bus stops within a two minute walk to the library, which are served by 1, 2, 3, 3A, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 20, 21, 36, 63, 93A, 118, 119, 120, 121, 128 and 843 buses. The railway station is three minutes walk away.

The most convenient parking is at the Palm Court multi-storey on Vernon Road or the Brunswick multi-storey on York Place. Alternatively, Scarborough has a park and ride scheme on the A64 and the A165 Filey approach to town.

There are ramps; automatic doors; lifts; a disabled toilet; and an induction loop system at the library. Shopmobility is two minutes walk away at the rear entrance to Debenhams and has a motorised scooter for use in the library.

What can/can't I bring to the event?

There will be a limited number of PCs available at the session so if you have your own laptop you can bring along so as to have a go on the projects, that would be great.

Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?

If you have any questions in advance of the session, please get in touch yorkshireandhumber@codeclub.org.uk .
