Community Media Toolkits Workshop
Monday 18th March, 2013 – Breakwater Lodge Hotel, V&A Waterfront, Cape Town
This event will launch the Com-Me digital toolkit, which provides an innovative approach to user-generated content.
During the event, there will be presentations from the team that developed the toolkit along with opportunities to discuss how your organisation may wish to use or adapt the tools. Other speakers and panellists will give their wider perspectives on the opportunities and solutions. There will also be a complimentary lunch and time to try out the components in hands-on demos and for networking with other attendees.
At the end of the event there will be a prize draw for a chance to win one of four Android phones to use with the toolkit's components.
Community generated media
The Com-Me toolkit provides solutions for content creation and sharing in locations where there is low textual and computing literacy and limited power and network coverage. We will present the components of the toolkit that include a mediaphone application; a tablet-based repository and phone charging station; and, the TVCam.
The toolkit is available for open, free distribution – see the toolkit website for more information and downloads.
9:30am – 4:00pm, 3rd July 2012. Chair: Matt Jones.
