Connecting Industry & Researchers in Physics
A SEPnet networking evening for Industry, Postgraduate Researchers and Research Staff
Postgraduate researchers (PGRs) need opportunities to meet employers to find out about career and business opportunities.
Employers, especially small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), want to engage with universities to collaborate and access the best and brightest PhD students.
Researchers want to build links with industry to explore how their research can create impact.
South East Physics Network's Graduate Network (GRADnet) is organising a networking evening to facilitate greater collaboration and links between industry, PGRs and researchers.
This event will:
-
help PGRs (PhDs) to network with employers from a range of physics-related industries, talk about their research and explore business ideas, placements and mentoring opportunities
-
enable industry to meet students and academic staff to find out about their research and explore ideas for joint working
-
facilitate links between researchers and industry to support impact work
During the evening:
-
Hear from a panel including David Banks, InSync Technology; Oliver Dewhurst, QinetiQ; Iain Duncan, Mousetrap Innovation Ltd; Kathryn Graham, Surrey Space STL, Peter Lancaster, Knowledge Exchange Manager, University of Surrey Satelite Technology and Jason Lepley of Finmeccanica talk about the benefits of knowledge exchange and what postdoctoral graduates can offer industry
-
Participate in a speed networking session
-
Build ongoing relationships between industry and researchers through placements, mentoring or research collaboration
-
Refreshments will be provided.
One of a series of regional GRADnet events. This event is aimed at PhD students and researchers at all SEPnet partner institutions, SMEs and regional employers and industry representatives.
