Event Details

This event offers the chance for community groups and charities in Ripon and the surrounding villages to gain advice on involving and supporting volunteers and funding a successful volunteer programme.

Free tickets for this event are available for charitable and community groups based in the rural areas of the Harrogate District (including Ripon, Boroughbridge, Pateley Bridge, Masham and the surrounding villages). *PLEASE NOTE BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL*


There will be three interactive workshops throughout the day. Workshop sessions will provide practical advice based on your organisation and opportunities for discussion with voluntary sector colleagues from the Ripon area.

PROGRAMME


9.45-10.00     Welcome


10.00-11.30     Attracting and Recruiting Volunteers

Whether you are already involving volunteers or considering involving volunteers for the first time this workshop will explore how to effectively  market your opportunities to attract and recruit new volunteers. We will also introduce you to the local Volunteer Centre to make sure your group is making the most of this free service.

11.45 - 12.45    Keeping Volunteers Motivated and Engaged

In this workshop we will consider how your organisation can ensure volunteers keep volunteering. We will explore support and supervision for different sizes of group as well as training and how to develop specialist roles.

 12.45-1.45       Lunch

 1.45-2.45         Volunteers are not free! Finding funding to support volunteers

Volunteers give their time for free but they are not a free resource. In this workshop we will explore different funding opportunities to help your organisation fund a successful volunteer programme.

 2.45-3.00         Q&A

The event will be led by Nina Muir (Funding Advisor, Harrogate & Ripon CVS) and Sue Williams (Harrogate & Ripon Volunteer Centre).  Both Nina and Sue are experienced and qualified trainers. Refreshments including a light lunch will be provided. All attendees will receive a take away training pack.
