Creative Calderdale is delighted to welcome internationally renowned artist Paddy Hartley as the speaker for their September Creative Vision’s event.
Born is Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, Paddy Hartley’s extensive career has seen him gain international recognition for his art practice, focusing on the way in which the human body is changed, modified and reconfigured either by choice or circumstance. Addressing subjects such as steroid use in bodybuilding, biomedical research, the ethics of human cloning and conflict acquired injury. His work has taken the form of installation, ceramic, assembled objects, garment creation and modification and digital embroidery.
Proving that art can cross over into other disciplines, Paddy has more recently gained recognition in the fashion world for his arresting Face Corset designs which have featured in a number of premiere fashion publications including AnOther Magazine, Vogue Italia and W Magazine. His work has been shot by leading fashion photographers including Rankin, Tim Walker, Michelangelo Di Battista and Nick Knight (for Lady Gaga).
This event is free to members of Creative Calderdale network. Guest tickets for the event can also be obtained for £10. Tickets include entry to the event, a glass of wine on arrival and light supper.
