Event Details

Two full days of creative JavaScript and HTML5 training. Very limited tickets to ensure a great atmosphere and focussed attention.

Over the last few months, Seb Lee-Delisle has been inspiring a new audience in the art of creative coding with JavaScript and HTML5. And after selling out the last NYC courses in a matter of hours, we've decided to take this workshop on tour!

Freelance? Use code INDIELOVE to save $300! (first 5 applicants only***).

In-browser graphical capabilities are becoming richer than ever, and you can now create truly beautiful visual effects with JavaScript and HTML5.

Come and learn how to draw, animate, and create truly interactive content, including advanced mouse interactions, pixel manipulation, image blending, physics, 3D and games.

During the two days of this hands-on training, we’ll be working through a series of specially created examples that demonstrate the techniques for drawing and animating with code.

What will be covered

We’ll start off with the basics of rendering into an HTML5 canvas, and animating simple objects with tweening, realtime easing and sequencing. We’ll then learn how to simulate physics without having to learn rocket science. And what better way to use physics than to make a particle system with sparks, smoke and explosions?

Working in two dimensions is fun but three is better! We’ll demystify 3D rendering by creating our own simple 3D system. And then move on to more complex examples using Mr.doob’s three.js library. We’ll also examine the differences between using canvas, DOM and SVG graphics to learn how to choose which one is right for us.

Finally we’ll explore how we can use these new found skills to make games.

Who is it for?

This course is for front end developers who want to explore visual interactive possibilities in JavaScript, CSS and HTML5.

Prerequisites

The examples start off very simply and gradually get more complex. So whether you're just starting out in JavaScript or if you're a more experienced coder, you'll still get a lot out of the training.
