Cumbria Green Build Festival: Clay Dabbin Earth Build Exhibition Centre
Sunday, September 25, 2016 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM (BST)
Come and visit an exciting and unusual building project in progress! Clay dabbin is the vernacular building construction of the Solway plain, and this is the first “new build” clay dabbin for some 200 years.
These buildings are extremely sustainable, requiring only sweat and materials available within a couple of miles of the build site.
Chris Spencer from the Solway Wetlands Landscape Partnership will be on hand to tell you all about clay dabbin and answer your questions.
The visitor centre at the reserve was built a few years ago as a conservation restoration of a derelict barn that has been super insulated with hempcrete and has a solar installation, resulting in a zero running cost for the RSPB. You’ll be able to look around both buildings during this event.
Tea and coffee are available in the visitor centre.
You can drop in at any time between 2pm and 4pm, but please book your place.
Why not stay on and combine the event with a visit to the RSPB reserve? There’s more information about the reserve on the RSPB website: www.rspb.org.uk/discoverandenjoynature/seenature/reserves/guide/c/campfieldmarsh/
