There is a choice of three tour times at The Gatehouse, a Passivhaus built in 2013 and awarded the Passivhaus certification and plaque in early 2014.
The Gatehouse is a detached, 3-bedroom home, with brick and render facing. There are no radiators in house - heat is generated by sunlight, body heat, towel rails and appliances and it's captured and redistributed in the house by a sophisticated mechanical ventilation and heat recovery system. Its normal operating temperature is 20 deg C.
The house has an EPC rating of A, energy efficiency rating 100, and is zero carbon, with two solar panels for hot water.

The property is just off the A69 to the east of Carlisle, heading towards Hexham. From the A69, turn left into Holme Lane. When you reach a farm on your left, turn right into Aglionby Grange. Follow the drive around for parking.
