Organised by

The Friends of Hazlehead has a primary goal of improving the facilities and experience of Hazlehead Park. The committee,  a group of people who are passionate about the park, runs the organisation and guide the activities of the Friends, with input from the community.

The Hazlehead area with the park at the centre forms a large green space on the edge of the city, with the approaches reaching far into the surrounding suburban area. This green area provides an attractive area for walking, jogging, cycling, as well as providing a natural connection for the community to the local countryside. There are plans for extensive developments on all sides of the area and once complete will result in the park being ‘in’ the city.

The whole area is collectively used by members of the local community and the wider Aberdeen/Aberdeenshire communities, for a number of reasons ranging from walking, informal and formal sport, active play, relaxing, wildlife watching, commercial events and more.

The objective of Friends of Hazlehead is the advancement of environmental improvement in the area, and the protection and provision of recreational facilities and activities for the public benefit.

The committee also ensure that the activities of the Friends comply with the requirements to continue as a charity.
