The University of Stirling Management School invite you to a public lecture by prominent economist and Honorary Professor, Dr Angus Armstrong on Tuesday 8th November 2016.

Dr Armstrong will explore some of the alternative options arising from this year’s EU referendum result and is entitled "Hard or soft Brexit?”


Dr Angus Armstrong biography:

Angus Armstrong graduated from the University of Stirling in 1986 with a degree in economics. He then took an MA in Economics at Simon Fraser University, Canada. He has an MPA in International Development from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and a PhD in Economics from Imperial College, London. He held a Sloan Fellowship in Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA from 2000 to 2001. He is currently a member of the Human Capital and Economic Opportunity Global Working Group at the University of Chicago.

His early career focused on international banking where he rose to become Chief Economist Asia and Managing Director at Deutsche Bank. He then joined HM Treasury, where he was Head of Macroeconomic Analysis during the financial crisis of 2008. He has been the Director of Macroeconomics at the National Institute of Economic and Social Research, London since 2011. He is also a visiting professor at Imperial College and was the House of Lords special adviser on Scottish independence in the build up to the 2014 referendum.


About the event:
A broad spectrum of leading figures representing private, public and third sector organisations, including many alumni, will be in attendance alongside University students to listen to Angus' commentary on Brexit.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

Car parking is in high demand on campus and staff, students and visitors alike are encouraged to use public transport where possible. There is an excellent connecting bus service between Stirling Bus Station and the University. Extensive parking options are available within the University's main car park. Please note that parking charges are in operation until 5pm, and thereafter parking is free.
