As an official state committee of the US Democratic Party, Democrats Abroad have the honor of electing delegates to nominate our Presidential candidate at the Democratic National Convention in North Carolina this September.
The first step in this process is our Democrats Abroad Primary. If you have not participated in a Presidential Primary process in your US voting state, we urge you to join us for this unique and important opportunity to make your voice heard. With over 99 candidates running for delegate in the EMEA region alone, we're expecting large a lot of excitement!
The Democrats Abroad Primary is the ONLY stage of the US Presidential election process where physical polling places are opened outside the Territorial United States. While absentee ballots are possible—just make sure to request your absentee ballot before April 30, 2012 by writing to firstname.lastname@example.org—we would love to see you come in person to cast your ballot.
For the special first night of voting in London on Tuesday, May 1st, we have brought in special entertainment–including a live jazz band and special guest speakers. We'll also be screening the amazing film The Road We've Travelled–the inspiring story of President Obama's Presidency so far, directed by Academy Award-winning director Davis Guggenheim (An Inconvenient Truth) and narrated by Tom Hanks.
