Description

This five-day practical course is designed to help local authorities meet the requirements of the Care Act (2014) in relation to assessing deafblind people. The course is at level 3 and will equip participants to assess deafblind people at the minimum level set by the Care Act. This is aimed at professionals who carry out assessments for adult social care but who do not have training and knowledge of deafblindness to level 3.

The course will focus on understanding the impact of dual sensory loss and how this relates to needs assessments and the new eligibility criteria in the Care Act. Delegates will be assessed throughout and certification will be dependent on competency.

  • Carry out a competent deafblind assessment at level 3, in line with the requirements of the Care Act 2014

  • How to identify complex situations where level 3 is insufficient
  • What the Care Act says about the role of specialists in assessment and care planning for deafblind people

Course time: 10am to 4.30pm

Course dates: 24, 25, 26 January & 2, 3 February 2017

Cost per delegate £875

Cost per second and further delegates £650 (for two or more people from same organisation)

Terms and conditions

  1. Cancellation: Fees for non attendance are non-refundable. If your place is cancelled up to 48-hours before the course then 50 per cent of the course fees will be refundable. Fees for places that are cancelled with less than 48-hours notice are non-refundable.
  2. Each individual case will be taken into account and it may be possible to transfer fees to a future course / alternative course
  3. If the course is cancelled by Sense due to unforeseen circumstances, a future booking will be offered
  4. If following submittal of your booking form and payment the course becomes full we will offer you a full refund or the option of transferring to a future or alternative course.
