PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO EVENTS BEYOND OUR CONTROL DUDLEY EDWARDS' TALK HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED TO MONDAY 18 JUNE

We apologise for any inconvenience caused. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Acclaimed artist Dudley Edwards will join us on the evening of 31 May for a talk covering his 40 year career in applied art which began in the psychedelic era of the late 1960s.

After moving to London and forming collectives BEV and Om Tentacle, Halifax-born Edwards became integral to the psychedelic art scene, creating murals on the Kings Road and Carnaby Street, hand-painting cars, furniture, and a 'magic' piano for Paul McCartney on which he later composed Hey Jude. He also collaborated with The Faces, Pink Floyd, Pete Townshend, and famously with The Beatles on one of BEV's seminal light shows, The Million Volt Light & Sound Rave

In his later career Edwards moved into painting, ceramics, photography and textile design, establishing design company Amazed Ltd with his wife, Madeleine.

Most recently, Edwards' early work has been featured in Electrical Banana: Masters of Psychedelic Art which identifies him as one of the most important artists of the movement. The book also explores the graphic legacy of psychedelia, demonstrating that its aesthetic value and influence greatly exceeds common cultural stereotypes of the era.

Following the event we will be giving away a copy of Electrical Banana signed by the man himself.

In Technicolour - an exhibition of early work by Dudley Edwards and his cohorts is on display at RedHouse Originals Gallery in Harrogate until 26 May.

Creative Networks is Leeds College of Art's major professional events programme with talks from a diverse group of high profile speakers from across the creative industries to entertain, challenge and make us think.

For the 2014/15 academic year we are focusing our attention on our partners, collaborators and people contributing great things to the arts, creative industries and the city of Leeds, along with our alumni, students and staff to create a buzz at each event.

Our events are still free of charge, although we have introduced a refundable deposit so we can accurately calculate attendance.

Parking – we have very limited spaces that will be available from 5.30 pm for £1, these are on a first come first serve basis and parking cannot be guaranteed.

If you would like to arrive early for this event then please take some time to visit the Blenheim Walk Gallery Space. On the day of the event we will have an exhibition by Freya Kruczenyk, 'Casting Light', which consists photographic images affected using light and various forms of digital technology.
