Description

#EditorsLab BBC #newsHACK Glasgow & Dublin on 1st and 2nd May 2014

Organised by BBC and the Global Editors Network, these Hackdays will gather teams from News organisations, academic and research institutions and members of the Global Editors Network. The teams will represent a variety of media platforms (print, digital, broadcast), for a two-day competition to develop innovative News propositions. This Hackdays theme is ‘The Future of News Curation’: How might we curate and connect our News Storytelling, in the age after “the stream”?

Your team should include a journalist, a designer and up to three developers. They will be expected to build a working prototype of a news app or digital service during the event. The BBC will be offering some instructional material on News Labs technology prior to the event, but there is no mandatory preparation required. Catering will be provided during the day on both days by the BBC, and the Global Editors Network will be providing an evening meal on day 1.

Supported by Google, the Editors Lab is a worldwide series of hackdays hosted by some of the world’s leading newsrooms, which concludes in an international two-day final Hackathon at the 2014 GEN Summit. Your team will be in contact with the best digital news pioneers across the globe, learning about the latest industry developments. Two teams from this event will win the opportunity to take part in the Editors Lab Final Hackathon on 11 – 13 June 2014 in Barcelona, Spain at the GEN Summit!

Please sign up your team below by choosing to attend either the Dublin or Glasgow event. The deadline to submit your team is Friday 18th April. If you have any questions about the event please contact the team on connectedstudios@bbc.co.uk

The first person to register in your team must choose your team name and complete the registration for themselves as an individual. This person must then continue to register each member one by one including the group/team name. If you have any issues please let us know: connectedstudios@bbc.co.uk
