Description

Come back to school for the evening and learn the key things you need to know about grammar, punctuation and spelling

Have you always felt like you missed a few grammar lessons at school? Or maybe you just weren’t paying enough attention? Using good grammar can be the key to writing a winning CV, getting your book published, or just making sure you’re not making howlers on social media. So, if you struggle to remember the rules of grammar you were taught at school, you won’t want to miss this fun and informative masterclass.

Come back to school for the evening and let Katherine Fry and Rowena Kirton, co-authors of Grammar for Grown-ups, refresh your knowledge of grammar, punctuation and spelling. In the space of just two hours, you’ll get answers to those niggling questions you’ve always wanted to ask: what’s the correct way to use apostrophes in different contexts? And just what is a conjunction, anyway?

The course includes practical exercises to reinforce learning and improve your understanding of syntax and semantics. By the end of the evening, you’ll have a firm understanding of the fundamental rules of grammar and punctuation. Who knows, you might even become a bit of a stickler…

More about your teachers...

Rowena Kirton (under the name Rowena Skelton-Wallace) has worked in publishing for 26 years. She is the managing editorial director of the literary Vintage Publishing division of Penguin Random House, which publishes prize-winning authors, dead and living, including Martin Amis, Virginia Woolf and the latest Man Booker Prize-winner, Richard Flanagan.
