This event is the first regional event to support delivery of the Executive Development. The Executive Development can be accessed via people.nhs, which provides a range of support tailored for executive leaders to meet the challenges of leadership over the coming years. It seeks to create a leadership community building on the ambitions of the NHS People Plan, NHS People Promise and the Leadership Compact (due to be published).

About Our Speakers

Prof David Olusoga is Professor of Public History at Manchester University and a BAFTA award winning broadcaster and writer. His books include Black and British, The Kaiser’s Holocaust and The World’s War. He is also a contributor to the Oxford Companion to Black British History. He joins us today to share his thoughts on Black Leadership, and will also offer a Q&A session with delegates.

Prof Michael West is Professor of Work and Organisational Psychology at Lancaster University, Visiting Professor at University College, Dublin, and Emeritus Professor at Aston University. He has been Senior Fellow at Kings Fund since 2013. Michael has extensive experience of working to improve staff experience and care quality, including the 2020 review into the mental health and wellbeing of nurses and midwives across the UK https://www.kingsfund.org.uk/publications/courage-compassion-supporting-nurses-midwives

Complex Care Virtual Ward: This project is one of the AHSN 2020 Innovation Accelerator programme, and has seen the introduction of AI guided health coaching. Initially tested in York, this work is now being rolled out in Scarborough and Harrogate. Proactive Health Coaching is a telephone-based health coaching service which has been introduced to help support patients and reduce the frequency of unplanned admissions and attendance at A&E
