Led by Dr Paul Clarke, artist, theatre director and Senior Lecturer in Performance Studies at University of Bristol.
Paul Clarke leads a tour of The Foundation, exploring the notion ofqueering history and the archive as a source for creative re-use. Clarke also delves into the idea of critical utopianism, as explored by the American academic and queer theorist José Esteban Muñoz, in relation to Staff’s combined use of archive documentation and choreographic sequences. As in critical utopianism, a backward glance can enact a future vision, fuelling the transformative political imagination of a marginalised community.
