Expressive language: Using sentences and stories
Overview
This is a workshop for any staff working with school age children or young people who have difficulties with using spoken language at the sentence level or beyond.
By attending this workshop, you will:
- be familiar with how children develop their ability to use sentences and stories
- understand the importance of these skills in everyday life
- recognise the impact of difficulties with using sentences and stories
- be familiar with how support the development of sentences and stories
Reasons to attend:
- You would like to learn more about how to support children's spoken language between the ages of 5 to 11 years.
- You have concerns about a child or young person's spoken language skills. They may find it difficult to talk about things that have happened, give very little detail or include lots of irrelevant details when sharing their news, assume you know what they are talking about and/or get their ideas muddled up.
This course will be delivered online via Microsoft Teams. When you book, you will receive a confirmation email, and closer to the workshop date, you will receive information about how to access the workshop and the materials you will require for the workshop.
In the unlikely event that a workshop is cancelled, we will endeavour to give as much notice as possible and you will be offered a place on an alternative date.
If you need to swap a participant, please notify us of their name and email address as soon as possible so they can be sent all relevant emails. You can do this by emailing ccs.beds.childrens.slt.training@nhs.net
