FaceSymbol with Richard Hodgkinson
Tuesday, 6 August 2013 from 19:00 to 22:00 (BST)
Winchester, United Kingdom
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
Richard Hodgkinson will talk about his work on the FaceSymbol project, which produced a set of symbols for biometric facial recognition systems for UK international airports, seaports and rail stations. His presentation will cover the design, development and testing of these symbols to current ISO standards and provide an update on his article in the Spring 2013 edition of the “Communicator”.
Richard is a graduate from Southampton College of Art, and has designed over 4,000 icons for IBM software products, as well as participating in standards development and lecturing on the MA in Technical Communications course at the University of Portsmouth.
We'll be there from 7pm, and Richard's talk will start around 7.45pm.
The pub is about 5-10 minutes walk from the station, or if you are driving, there are several options for parking (the pub doesn't have a car park).
In the surrounding roads (try the roads off St James' Lane - on the other side of Southgate Street next to the National Tyre depot - the second left, St James' Villas, is a good bet)
Tower Street multi-storey (about 5 minutes walk away - with the pub on your right, drive towards the city centre, turn left at the lights, then right at the top of the hill, just before the Westgate).
