On 9 July 2012 the Government reformed the family migration rules, particularly affecting UK residents wishing to sponsor a non-EU partner or elderly dependent relative to join them here. This meeting will consider the latest evidence about the impacts of the family migration rules across the UK, and will look closely at the position of lower income families outside London. It will follow up the work of the cross-party APPG on Migration inquiry which reported in 2013, to ask how far these rules are compatible with a fair and balanced approach to immigration, and with a family-friendly policy agenda.
