Telling your improvement story using film to capture and share knowledge
Digital media has revolutionised the way we live our lives, empowering citizens and providing opportunities for gaining new information from a vast array of sources within minutes. Libraries have been replaced by online search engines and letters replaced by email. The speed of information transfer has accelerated beyond recognition. Despite this, in our improvement work we continue to seek to manage knowledge in a somewhat traditional way, with written reports, leaflets and posters. In this learning lab we will bid a fond farewell to the ‘how to guide’ and look at how film and digital media can be used to harvest, manage and share knowledge about improvement.
The session will be led by Haelo’s Film Unit, who work across all Haelo’s functions to ensure film is at the heart of its work. The Haelo team uses film to set the scene for improvement, capturing patient stories that get to the very heart of the improvements we’re trying to make.
Film is Haelo’s core way of capturing the story of our collaboratives, getting participants to share their learning, ideas and improvements as the collaborative progresses, developing concepts such as Safety Briefings for healthcare which are leading to a change in the safety conversation between patients and staff. Haelo also uses film to innovate.
The session will also be led by an external film expert.
