IOP South west is very happy to present another day of free talks and events, open to everyone with even the slightest interest in physics. The talks are all suitable for ages 12+, but children must be accompanied by an adult.
This event is free but to guarantee your seat, it would be helpful if you could register.
10:00 Physics in schools: inludes talks on a trip to CERN, and racing cars.
10:40 Fundamental Physics: talks presented by Prof. Kurt Langfeld, and Dr Agostino Patella, both of Plymouth University.
11:40 Space Weather and its impacts: presented by Dr Edmund Healey, MET Office.
13:00 3 Minute Wonder competition: early-career physisicsts explain their research in 3 minutes!
13:30 Physics and the sea: presented by Dr Vanesa Magar and Dr Tim O'Hare, both of Plymouth University.
14:20 Medical Physics: presented by Prof Emmanuel Ifeachor, Plymouth University
15:20 Physics in industry: various presenters from the Plymouth Manufacturers' Group
There will also be an exhbition area.
Refreshments will be provided in the afternoon and on arrival but we are unfortunately not able to provide lunch .There are many cafes and restaurants near where you can eat, or bring your own and enjoy the spectacular Roland Levinsky building.
Small grants are available if your school would like to bring a party. Please contact the organiser if interested.
Limited parking is available on campus, and much more in the city centre, including at Drake circus.
