After the success of The Guardian’s Film Appreciation courses, this new Masterclass with Danny Leigh celebrates the power and magic of cinema by examining the lives and movies of individual filmmakers.
Taking place over two days, ten sessions will spotlight some of the most fascinating and influential figures in cinema history – looking at how their creative signatures developed, and their body of work took shape. Through the lens of their lives, the course will explore how a filmmaker’s background, personality and the context of history around them might inform and influence their films.
The course will be led by Guardian film writer and co-presenter of BBC One’s Film programme Danny Leigh with guest hosts including Guardian film critic Peter Bradshaw. Speakers will offer personal appreciations of great filmmakers in an atmosphere of conversation and discussion.

Time: 10am- 5pm
