Finding Funding for PhD Studentships

January 17th 2017, 12.00 - 2.00 pm

Training Room 4.09, Graduate School, St Andrew's Court

This session is for Principal Investigators who wish to find funding for PhD studentships from a wide variety of sources, including the UK Research Councils, Charities and the EU. In particular, it will focus on fully-funded studentships.

This two hour session provides a detailed review of the routes available to University of Portsmouth Academics for finding PhD studentship funding from the UK Research Councils.

The session will also give a broad overview of PhD studentship funding from other sources such as the EU (Horizon 2020) and charities such as the Leverhulme Trust.

The session is appropriate for Principal Investigators looking to find full-funding for PhD students (fees, bursary, and research costs) and are unsure of Research Council eligibilities or what avenues are available from the EU or charities.

PLEASE NOTE: This event is currently open only to Portsmouth University affiliated staff.

A full programme can be found on our Moodle page.

University of Portsmouth Research Supervision Events

Taken as a whole these sessions are about the professionalisation of supervision in the university, and sharing your knowledge and experiences in a supportive environment. If you are currently supervising students, the university expects you to undertake at least one session of supervision development during the year (even if it is not through one of these Graduate School events).   With an average evaluation rating of 4.5/5 across the sessions, I hope you’ll also find them well delivered and entertaining!
