FREE EVENT-Yellow Face in Real Life: Race in Theatre with David Henry Hwang
Saturday, 25 May 2013 from 12:00 to 14:30 (BST)
London, United Kingdom
Following the recent casting controversy surrounding the RSC's Orphan of Zhao, Special Relationship Productions presents a discussion with Tony Award-winning playwright, David Henry Hwang, around the portrayal of race in theatre and entertainment today.
Having led protests surrounding "yellowface" casting in the original Broadway production of Miss Saigon, Hwang offers unique insights into the evolution of the subject over the last twenty years.
Join us for a discussion and Q&A session led by Dr Amanda Rogers, followed by the opportunity for networking and drinks and a matinee performance of the UK Premiere of OBIE Award-winning and Pulitzer Prize finalist play Yellow Face by David Henry Hwang.
