Arts 4 Dementia

Arts 4 Dementia, a  charity founded in 2011 to bridge the gap in dementia care, is helping to develop artistic activities to re-energise people living with dementia in the community - from diagnosis - their families and carers.

We believe that people with dementia, like the rest of us, have the right to enjoy their lives to the full.

Engagement with artistic activity inspires and gives new direction to people with dementia.

Our mission is to enable people with dementia to live better and longer at home and to add fulfilment to their lives and the lives of their carers and loved ones through engagement with the arts.

We work with leaders in the field and major arts venues to encourage high-quality artistic events for people with dementia and their carers, and to present an innovative, vital opportunity for continuing professional development, and with the Alzheimer's Society to deliver early-stage dementia awareness training for arts facilitators.

Our London Arts Challenge in 2012 programme of weekly arts activities, covering art, dance, South Asian Dance, scriptwriting and drama, media, music, photography and poetry at 17 arts venues around the capital, was awarded the London 2012 Inspire mark. Its evaluation Reawakening the Mind reports quantitative and qualitative evidence to describe the benefits by art form on dementia type and provides the first multiple art form resource for activities to re-energise and inspire people in the early stages of dementia and their carers.
