GameCityNights #9 - Festival Fallout
Friday, November 26, 2010 from 6:00 PM to 11:55 PM (GMT)
GameCityNights, Season One, Episode Nine - Festival Fallout
Friday November 26th. Antenna. 6PM - Late.
We're sweeping up, sorting through the aftermath, putting GameCity5 to bed and moving on with our lives. But not before a little reflection and acknowledgement of some of the AMAZING work that went into, and came out of the festival.
This month's GameCityNights is sort of a round-up of the festival. A way for us to evaluate what happened with the people who *really* influence it.
Joining us via Skype, all the way from Austin, Texas, will be Adam Saltsman. Adam will be talking about 'A Lost Thought Trying To Find It's Way Home' the game he created in just 72 hours during GameCity5 using designs and ideas from the festival audience. Hopefully we'll also have Rebecca Mayes, composer of the game's soundtrack, joining in the webchat. However, she's going to India the next morning so her appearance is dependent on how the packing's going.
GameJam - The GameJam games that were created on the final day of the festival will be made available to try out. The theme was Weight/Wait and some interesting games were churned out in the 24hour time limit.
Kinect - We'll be setting up Microsoft's new motion controller so we can all have a good hard judge and jump around in a boat while deciding if we want one for Christmas or not.
Speaker's Corner - Makes a return with a game that's taken the World by storm recently. More will be revealed as soon we we confirm who's doing the speaking.
Adam's Den - A game conceived in the Mogal-E-Azam on the last night of the festival while we were trying to figure out a replacement for the cancelled Quiz. We ran out of time and everyone was too shattered to bother running it at the time but it was way too good to ditch completely.
Your task will be to invent an event for next year's festival and pitch it to the Adams. It can be serious if you want. It can be completely ridiculous. It's up to you. But will the Adams be in or out? Hard cash to fund your event will be at stake here. Maybe.
Spite Your Face - LEGO Workshops video screening of 'The Fifth Annual Giant Robot Fighting Tournament'.
Feedback - We'd love your opinions/thoughts/complaints/hugs. We think GameCity5 was the best festival yet but there's always room for improvement.
Please register to secure your entry to the event. Entrance will be £3 to be paid on arrival at Antenna.
