Do you dream of getting paid for attending world championships? Are you overwhelming everyone with your extensive knowledge of cricket trivia? Join Guardian sports journalist and author Emma John for a masterclass on how to combine your knowledge and skills to find a job within the global sports industry.

Throughout the day you’ll hear from a range of inspirational speakers, including Radio 2 sports presenter Matt Williams, cricket writer Jarrod Kimber and sports PR and marketing expert Kate Bosomworth.

To gain further valuable insight, there will be an opportunity to talk to the experts one-on-one. They will be able to offer advice on identifying the skills you need to work in different parts of the industry, how to build up your CV and pitch yourself to potential employers.

Some of the areas and subjects covered include:

  • The art of broadcasting: is TV or radio right for you?

  • PR and sponsorship: a smart way to work with the stars

  • Social media: how to make blogging, vlogging and podcasting pay

  • Publishing: tips for budding sportswriters and why you don’t have to be a wordsmith to make it in newspapers, magazines and books
