Event Details

Immerse yourself in the ale-soaked history of Fleet Street on this theatrical twilight tour led by media historian Dr Matthew Green with costumed actors, musicians, and corpses hidden along the route.

Includes free tankards of beer and ale in some of London's most historic taverns.

Ever since Wynkyn de Worde set up his printing press at the sign of the sun in St Bride’s Churchyard in 1495, Fleet Street has been associated with knowledge, enlightenment, and holding the government to account. It has been hailed as the Palladium of British liberty.

But it has a dark side. The story of the mass media is also the story of mass murder.

Beginning at Stationers’ Hall and finishing with limoncello served by Dr Johnson’s beloved cat, Hodge, in Gough Square, don’t miss this anarchic voyage of discovery from Unreal City Audio as recommended by the Guardian, TelegraphBBC, and Culture Critic

A stimulating, provocative way to begin your night out, the tour lasts around 1hr 30mins.
