As part of Surrey Cricket's Girl's Club Competition Programme we would like to invite you to participate in the u9 Girls Club Cricket Competition being held at St John's School Leatherhead on the 2nd June 2013

The competition is a pairs outdoor cricket competition played with a softball and is held for u9 girls. The Competition is 8-a-side, although clubs are encouraged to bring a squad for the day a fewer number of players will be accepted. Ie 4 players.

The game is fun, fast, exciting and is designed to show players that cricket is a sport they can get involved in to develop their skills and enjoy the team competition against other clubs

 

Surrey Girls U9 and U11 Club Festival Competition 2013 Rules

 Entry is free

Surrey cricket will be responsible for providing a competition manager.

Surrey cricket will provide a floating Trophy to be awarded to the overall winner.

Surrey cricket will provide the order of play on the day of the competition.

Clubs are responsible to provide cricket equipment including 1 set of stumps.

8-a-side competition

 CRICKET BALLS

Clubs are responsible for providing a junior sized incrediballs

 UMPIRES & SCORERS

Clubs are required to supply someone to umpire/score.

Score sheets will be available at the competition if required.

Result sheets to be handed to competition manager on the day of the completion.

 PLAYING CONDITIONS

  PITCH

The length of the pitch will be 16 yards

 DURATION

One innings per team, each innings to be 8 overs long (6 balls in an over)

 BOWLING

Each player on the fielding side must bowl 1 over

Bowling takes place from one end.

Players on the fielding side rotate fielding positions after each over.

Bowling should be overarm where possible (the ball may bounce more than once so long as it doesn’t reach the batter rolling)

Underarm deliveries must only bounce once.

Apart from the wicketkeeper, no fielder is allowed within 10 yards of the batter until the ball is hit.

3 Runs will be awarded to the batting team for each wide ball and no ball bowled but no extra ball will be allocated, except in the final over of each innings when in addition to the 3 runs an extra ball will be bowled.

 

ECB Fast Bowling Directives do not apply to this competition.

 

BATTING & SCORING

Batting team bats in pairs  (2 overs  per pair)

Each team starts with 200 runs.

Each time a batter is out, 5 runs are deducted and the other batter faces the next ball.

A batter may be out bowled, caught, run out, stumped and hit wicket.

There is no LBW unless the batter deliberately blocks the ball with a leg or foot.

Runs will be scored in the normal way (boundaries to be decided)

3 Runs will be awarded to the batting team for each wide ball and no ball bowled but no extra ball will be allocated, except in the final over of each innings when in addition to the 3 runs an extra ball will be bowled.

The team with the highest score wins.

A tied game is acceptable

3 points will be awarded for a win, with 1 for a tie.

The competition managers decision with be final and binding in all matter related to the competition.
