Description

Come to Haemophilia Scotland's first Swimming Extravaganza!

The Extravaganza will be a fun packed family friendly day to get everyone enthusiastic about swimming. We are delighted that GBR Swimmer International medallist and paralympian, Jack Bridge, will be joining us on the day.

As well getting involved in the pool, Jack will be explaining how he manages his haemophilia and swimming at such a high level. So this is your chance to meet a genuine haemophilia hero.

We will be catering for all swimming abilities and parents will be able to get in the pool too if they'd like. There will also be dry land activities including face painting.

Food and refreshments will be provided and we can help with travel grants for those who need them. There will also be an opportunity to find out more about our parent mentoring project an how you can get involved.

So, what are you waiting for, reserve your place today!

FAQs

Is there an age limit for the event?

The day is intended for families so there are no age restrictions. The pool will be at 29C which is slightly cooler than you'd find in a baby friendly pool.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

There is ample free parking right outside the entrance to the pool. When driving onto the campus please pass the main building to the right to access the car park. If you are using Sat Nav then please enter EH10 5EG as your destination.

If you are coming by public transport then the Lothain Buses 45 service runs from just ourside Edinburgh Waverley Station to the College.

How accessible is the event?

There are no steps to deal with and everything will be on one level. A seated hoist will be available on the day for access to the pool. Please let us know as early as possible if you think you might like to use it.

Is there anywhere to give a treatment if we need to?

Yes, there is a dedicated first aid room which will be availble if anyone needs to treat.

Who can go in the pool?

If you'd like to go poolside you will need a swimmers ticket. Parents who are not swimming will be restricted to the spectators area so that the lifeguards can work effectively. There will be a minimum of two lifeguards around the pool at all times.

What do I need to bring?

If you will need to use armbands or other personal floatation please bring it with you. You will also need to bring your swimming kit including a towel.

Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?

If you have any questions please email Dan Farthing-Sykes on dan@haemophilia.scot or call 0131 524 7286. Although, if you could call after the 12th of October that would be helpful.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

You won't need your ticket on the day but we will send out permissions forms which must be completed and returned before anyone can take part in the day.
